Gallery Wall Ideas for Apartment Living

I’m in full interior decorator-mode these days now that I’ve moved to a new apartment. If you’re new here, check out this DIY Shelf project from our old apartment. In the new place, one of the first projects I’ll be diving into is creating a gallery wall in the living room. I’ve been researching and getting inspired by existing gallery wall ideas to make my space work for me. I’m so excited to share this journey and process with you – but first, here’s some gallery wall ideas I’ve got my eyes on for apartment living.

What is a Gallery Wall?

A gallery wall is basically intentionally organizing picture frames on the wall to create dimension in the space. Gallery walls elevate any living space in a unique way and adds character to an otherwise sterile, empty apartment space.

I’ll be documenting my living room gallery wall process, so I’m most excited and inspired by these finds. Minimal and abstract art pieces are my favorite because it subtly adds so much character to any space (nothing overwhelming).

I love that gallery walls can also just be two-three photos. This is what I envision for our minimal bedroom space. I’ve gathered some ideas here where the photos are typically right about the headboard and are square-shaped.

Although I personally won’t be doing a gallery wall in my kitchen, it’s still interesting to see that it can indeed be done. When we think kitchen, we’re probably thinking more appliances and kitchenware, not necessarily wall art. But a gallery wall in the kitchen will make apartment living feel like home.

The bathroom is another space where I prefer maybe one or two pieces of art, but I’m not opposed to the idea of having a gallery wall there as well. Again, people have managed to absolutely make their bathrooms look like an oasis or spa with the additional touch of a gallery wall. Here’s the proof.

Next Steps

I’m looking forward to stepping outside of my comfort zone by implementing colors like gold for the picture frames and using a variety of different sizes. Do you have a gallery wall in your home? If so, where’s a great place to purchase picture frames?
