My 7-Step Skincare Routine for a Natural Glow
It’s that time of year when I get the annual urge to reset everything, including my skincare routine. After months of thick and heavy moisturizers and layered makeup looks, I’m ready to give my skin a break and embrace a natural glow. My goal is to get a glass-skin look, which involves a constant skincare routine that I am now starting to see the results of.

You don’t have to buy a whole new set of products. You can absolutely use what you have at home to achieve similar results. It’s more about simplifying and focusing on skin that looks healthy on its own. Here’s my current easy routine that keeps my skin looking fresh and glowy.
Easy Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin
1. CereVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
I switched to the CereVe Hydrating Cleanser for the purpose of removing sunscreen, dirt, and oil without leaving my skin tight. That tight, squeaky feeling is usually a sign your barrier is irritated. Washing my face morning and night keeps my skin balanced and prevents buildup that can dull the glow. I massage it in for about 60 seconds and rinse with lukewarm water.
Why it works
It supports the skin barrier
It does not strip natural moisture
It preps the skin for everything else
When your cleanser is right, everything layered after it performs better.
2. Thayer’s Toner (2–3 times a week)
This step makes the biggest difference in how my skin reflects light. I prefer mild chemical exfoliants like this one over harsh scrubs because they keep my skin smooth without irritation. Using this 2 to 3 times a week helps lift dullness and smooth texture gently.
Why I do not overdo it
Over exfoliating can sabotage hydration. I focus on consistency, not intensity. After toner, my skin looks clearer and feels more refined, like a soft filter.
This step makes my skin look more awake. It is lightweight and watery, so it absorbs quickly. I apply a thin layer and let it sit before moving on. This type of exfoliant helps clear pores and refine texture without that aggressive scrub feeling. The glow shows up before moisturizer even goes on, which tells me it is doing something right.
3. Paula’s Choice Exfoliate
I swear by the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliating Toner. This step makes my skin look more awake while visible reducing my dark spots.

4. Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum
When my skin needs extra bounce, this is the layer that makes the difference in the texture of my skin. This Hyaluronic acid pulls water into the skin, which helps soften fine lines and smooth texture. The addition of B5 supports the skin barrier and keeps hydration from evaporating too quickly.
I apply this on slightly damp skin right after exfoliating. It gives that subtle, dewy cushion before moisturizer even goes on. If my skin is feeling tight from weather changes or indoor heat, this step restores that comfortable, supple feel almost instantly.
5. Paula’s Choice 10% Azelaic Acid Booster
If texture is one goal, even tone is the other. The Paula’s Choice Azelaic acid helps calm visible redness and smooth uneven areas without being harsh. I use a thin layer on areas where I tend to get redness or post blemish marks.
It is gentle enough to layer under moisturizer and works well alongside hydrating products. Over time, it helps skin look clearer, calmer, and more refined. This is one of those quiet products that improves overall appearance without dramatic irritation.
6. Khiel’s Moisturizer
Heavy creams start feeling suffocating in warmer weather. I look for cream based textures that absorb quickly and leave a natural sheen. This one sinks in beautifully and layers well under sunscreen and makeup.
Hydration is what keeps texture looking smooth. When skin is dehydrated, every little bump and line becomes more visible. When it is hydrated, everything softens.
7. Daily Sunscreen
Sunscreen is what keeps the glow consistent instead of turning into uneven tone or texture.
A dewy formula almost works like a subtle skin tint on minimal makeup days. It gives that healthy finish while protecting all the progress from your exfoliation and hydration steps. This step is non negotiable. Smooth texture means nothing if sun exposure is undoing the work
If I’m restocking products, I usually check the Sephora Beauty Insider Sale first because it’s one of the few times I actually replace staples instead of experimenting randomly. Some of my go-to restocks are listed in 5 Must-Haves from the Sephora Beauty Insider Sale. The biggest shift I’ve made is realizing that glow comes from consistency, not layers.

Simple Lifestyle Changes for Clearer Skin
The biggest difference in my skin never came from a single product. It came from small habits that I repeat without thinking. A few things consistently help:
- Drinking more water once the weather gets warmer
- Washing makeup brushes regularly
- Changing pillowcases often
- Keeping my routine consistent
- Getting enough sleep when I can
None of these are complicated, but together they make my skin look calmer and clearer. I also try not to overload my routine in spring. Too many active ingredients at once usually leads to irritation, which cancels out any glow I was trying to achieve. Simple routines tend to work better long term.
Spring always feels like the right time to start fresh, and this kind of routine makes getting ready feel easier instead of overwhelming. The clean girl approach works because it focuses on maintaining skin instead of constantly trying to fix it. When everything is pared down, the glow looks natural instead of forced.
Final Thoughts
Right now, I am not chasing dramatic results. I am focused on texture that feels soft to the touch and looks hydrated in natural light.
When your skin feels balanced, everything else, makeup, lighting, even confidence, falls into place. A simple routine done consistently will always outperform an overwhelming one you cannot maintain.
